Dachshund Unlimited's AKC Gina

Dachshund Unlimited's AKC Gina

Dachshund Unlimited is a family business, and family is at the heart of everything we do. From our puppies' mothers and fathers to every puppy that is chosen to become a parent of Dachshund Unlimited's future generations or is adopted into their own forever home, every member of our Dachshund family will forever be a part of our family.

Even our logo features one of our beloved mothers, AKC Gina, because we feel she best symbolizes the love and devotion of our favorite breed. If you have any questions about our company or the services we provide, please glance over the questions and their corresponding answers below. Do I pick up my adopted puppy from Dachshunds Unlimited, or do you offer shipping options?

If  you purchase a puppy from an amateur breeder or pet store, you'll have no idea of the health history of the puppy's parents, the type of facility where the puppy was born, or the reputation of the breeder. Some pet stores and brokers may not only buy from amateur breeders but also from puppy mills.

Why shouldn't I adopt a puppy from a friend or my local pet store?

Dachshunds Unlimited is a certified AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. breeder of smooth and longhair Miniature Dachshunds, and we never sell to or purchase from amateur breeders, puppy mills, or pet stores. Our puppies' parents are regularly health tested; our facilities pass all AKC inspections with a 100% compliance rating; and all of our puppies are AKC-Registrable. Most important of all, we rear our puppies in the comfort of our own home—never in cages. We watch over them, play with them, and give them all a great deal of love and TLC.

Why should I adopt a puppy from Dachshunds Unlimited?

Why can't I visit or take my puppy home until the puppy is at least eight weeks old?

How will I keep track of my puppy's progress?

Safeguarding the health of our puppies as well as their parents is our top priority. Before our puppies receive their first round of vaccination shots and are medically cleared by our veterinarian, they are highly vulnerable to diseases, including the deadly and highly contagious parvovirus. Unfortunately, the parvovirus may pass from humans to dogs as well as from dog to dog and could wipe out an entire litter.

In addition, we do not allow our puppies to be adopted until they have been fully weaned because their immune system is strengthened through their mother's milk.

We know it's difficult to wait. However, we often email additional pictures to our reserved puppies' adoptive parents before adoption day.

If you are interested in adopting one of our puppies, we will be happy to email our puppy adoption contract to you for your review. You may call or send us a text at (352) 209-7723 (Susie) or (352) 209-7447 (Gabby), send us an email: DachshundsUnlimited@MSN.com, or just complete our Contact Us form. We promise to get back to you as quickly as possible.

Where can I find the Dachshund Unlimited's puppy adoption contract?

Do you certify the health of Dachshund Unlimited's puppies?

Dachshund Unlimited's Health Certification
Your adopted puppy will be given its first combo vaccine and will be dewormed for common parasites before leaving Dachshunds Unlimited’s home. To activate this warranty, the Buyer is required to have the puppy examined by a veterinarian (at their own expense) within 48 hours from the date of sale. If the veterinary exam reveals that the puppy has a life-threatening genetic defect, the Buyer must provide Dachshunds Unlimited with a copy of the written diagnosis and will contact Dachshunds Unlimited within two business days of the office visit to discuss arrangements for the puppy’s return and replacement.

If the puppy should pass away within one year of its date of birth due to a life-threatening genetic defect, the Buyer must provide Dachshunds Unlimited with copies of all veterinary records and a copy of the necropsy report (at the Buyer's expense) if the life-threatening genetic defect was not otherwise diagnosed and documented by the veterinarian at the time of death. Once the required documentation has been reviewed and approved by the Dachshunds Unlimited’s veterinarian, Dachshunds Unlimited will contact the Buyer to discuss arrangements for a replacement puppy of comparable value, which will be provided by Dachshunds Unlimited when the agreed upon replacement becomes available. Replacement of the puppy is the only remedy for the Buyer. Neither reimbursement of veterinary expenses nor refunds of any deposits, payments, or other fees will be made by Dachshunds Unlimited to the Buyer. If the Buyer fails to meet any conditions of sale outlined in purchase contract or mistreats the puppy in any way, the health warranty will be rendered null and void.

When should I begin introducing our puppy to people and dogs outside of our family?

Your puppy should visit your veterinarian within two days of your puppy’s adoption day. However, you should delay encounters with individuals (human and canine) outside of your family until the entire regimen of your puppy’s required first-year shots have been completed by your veterinarian.
